Food Volunteers Struggle to Reach Food to Bastis
Uzer, ardent volunteer at the Jan Sampark Samuh Community Kitchens in Bhopal combines his documentation skills with volunteer management. Alongwith two other peers, he deftly negotiates the barriers to accessing bastis – including communication with the youth food volunteers, the administrative wing of the Samuh, the district administration and Coordination team. Distressed by the lack of empathy from the district administration, Uzer feels the Community Kitchen concept run entirely by community contributions is the only way to ensure that the poor do not go hungry.
